First let me take this opportunity to convey my deepest, most sincere apologies for not posting anything sooner. I just didn't give a damn.. then..
So down to business.. Wow! My first post.. so excited my little soldier is giving me a royal salute! Anyways I'm the unfortunate President of this noble organization. I guess its cause I started it. I'm Capra Ibex.. mountain goat. Proud and dominant I roam my lands keeping my herd safe from harm. It's a tough job but someone has to do it. It's not easy being a Kambing.. it takes hard work, patience and a good serving of sacrifice. In actual fact there's a Kambing in every person.. the only question is whether or not they view it as such.
The concept of Kambing (or Kambingism as I’ve called it) can be divided into three categories; involuntary, voluntary and obligatory. There isn’t much to say about Involuntary Kambingism because there isn’t much mental element involved. As the name goes, a person is unwillingly pulled into an uncomfortable or rather inconvenient situation without being given a choice. In this case, the person never had any opportunity to consider or give thought to the situation. There is always a chance that a thought would pop out once the person realizes he/she has been Kambing-fide but that would be out of theory as this is a study of the moment before the transaction occurs; not during and definitely not after.
Those who act willingly would fall under Voluntary Kambingism. Right as it may seem to have this frame of mind and in most cases done with utmost sincerity (especially since it is always situations that aren’t very favorable); the problem arises when they fall short of sincerity. This group would be deemed dangerous in the sense that there may be underlying intent or latent intention as to the reason for their actions. Think about it; who would actually volunteer their services for something tiresome? On the surface they may seem to be doing/helping/serving (whatever the situation be.. we'll use helping from here on as it best exemplifies the philosophy of Kambing) sincerely because their actions are voluntary but as we are not all psychic, we can't really tell what his/her true intentions are. We can assume but that would make as ASS out of U and ME (get it? ASSUME.. nvm) Although that may sound stupid it is actually quite true. Assumptions in law, for example, is like placing a bet.. you lose or you win and 50% won't do you any good when reasonable doubt is in play. Therefore, it would be wise to take voluntary Kambingism with a pinch of salt cause the outcome is one that can truly and maybe uncomfortably surprise you.
Then we move on to Obligatory Kambingism; the less liked section but more commonly found. Obligatory Kambingism can be found in almost all daily activity. It is basically doing things that you don't like (or are not entirely fond of) but you are or feel obligated to do so. Helping an old lady with their bags, giving someone a lift with your car, running errands for your significant other and so on are some examples of this category. True it does seem like a pain but in terms of sincerity, it would definitely outweigh Voluntary Kambingism. This is because it is, in almost all cases, not an issue! So whether or not the Kambing has an ulterior intent would not really matter. When you give a friend a lift in your car, what intentions can you have? Or for what other reason can there be? A more difficult example to view is helping an old person with their bags (or whatever it may be), what other intention can one have? Maybe to look good in the eyes of others but because of that intention, but that is usually done voluntarily, which falls under the other category. This brings me back to the point on assumptions, we really cannot tell! You may think he's helping cause he wants recognition from society but in fact he may be doing it just cause he thinks he has to. It is really a question of the person's state of mind and the theory of Kambingism states that it depends on the person in question and not the bystander. As you can now imagine, although it may seem Obligated Kambings act under duress and may not be entirely sincere, they would appear to be the 'better' of the two categories of Kambings. At least you can be assured they do not carry any ulterior motives (and I'm sure you'll all agree with me when I say in most cases the motives aren't always good).
In conclusion, Kambingism is a theory that applies to everyone in almost every situation that involves inconvenience. It's a study of the human reaction and frame of mind and also the bystander take on the events. It is not one of those theories or studies that is meant to change or cause a significant impact on the human race. Rather, it is a simple study that is meant to make us think twice of our actions and ponder on the true reasons for our actions. Hopefully with that, we would slowly evolve into more thoughtful and considerate people with the 'right' (right as in morally and ethically right.. there's an extensive argument as to the definition of morality and who is the one who determines it but that would be out of topic and too long-winded.. I will use the social norm definition of morality) intentions and motives for our actions when specifically dealing with tiresome circumstances.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people and Kambings who have helped me (hopefully with the right intent) throughout the duration of my research. You have all truly contributed significantly and the results, as you may see, I share with you (of course some more than others but I wouldn't want to start being prejudice and so on). This short and lay presentation is meant to introduce this theory of Kambingism to the world (or at least to those who are reading) for you (the readers) to muse over but mainly it is for you to evaluate and criticize where necessary. As you can see, it is still at a stage of maturation and so your constructive or destructive criticisms would help immensely to the fine-tuning of this theory.Lastly, allow me to leave you with a question for you to mull over: "Which kind of Kambing are you?" I know which one I am.. I am Capra Ibex.. Mountain Goat! Cheers~
